Posted by Jonathan Greechan on 2013-05-06

As the Founder Institute gears up to launch in Bangalore, India, word spreading rapidly of the Silicon Valley accelerator’s plans for expansion. The story was recently featured in Livemint, a major local publication (also associated with the Wall Street Journal), which explained the fundamentals of the program as well as key dates and sign up information.

Leading the Founder Institute’s efforts in Bangalore is serial entrepreneur, Naveen Lakkur, who says Bangalore has all the ingredients of an  Indian Silicon Valley for tech startups. “Here, aspiring entrepreneurs are perhaps the largest in number, and even technology manpower isn’t a problem,” he says. The summer program is set to launch later this month and will feature an India-specific curriculum taught by both prominent Indian and Silicon Valley based mentors.

Author, Pallavi Singh writes, “the Founder Institute set its eyes on India at a time when technology entrepreneurship is at a momentous phase—the combined impact of social media and mobile service platforms has generated enormous interest in technology-driven start-ups.” And according to Founder Institute CEO, Adeo Ressi,

“Anybody can see that India as a whole is primed for start-up growth.”
