From enhancing travel experiences, to aiding the disabled in the workplace, our Spanish Founders are getting creative at tackling some major global issues. As of late, their innovative solutions have been catching the attention of local publications, ABC and TicBeat, who have featured several of our Madrid and Barcelona graduates in their online journals.

In Barcelona, Disismore helps companies locate and hire persons with disabilities. Born in response to the LISMI Act, Disismore acts as a medium between companies and disabled persons looking for work. The service is a meeting place for all involved in the integration of the disabled in the workplace, and is currently working on partnerships and agreements with local NGO’s. Taking on another large but much lighter problem is Kampoos.com, a platform focused on improving visibility for club soccer teams. Offering both freemium and premium subscription services, Kampoos already boasts 75 customers and has their sights set on hundreds more for 2013, as well as expansion throughout Europe and Asia. In Madrid, travel startup Sherpandipity is focusing on improving the way in which people interact and experience daily life. Inspired by a unique and unexpected trip to Nepal, Sherpandipity helps travelers connect with and experience a local culture in a more personal way. By pairing travelers with a Sherpa, or native guide, Sherpandipity not only improves a traveler’s experience abroad, but fosters relationships as well. Founder, Silvia Varela describes the service as a “vitamin” because you can travel without it, but not live and enjoy the destination in the same way. The startup has received an investment from Inception Capital and boasts the collaboration of four top advisors. Click here to learn more about Sherpandipity.

Also in Madrid, For Dyslexia is taking aim at a much more ubiquitous issue; helping children to read. The platform provides reading tools for children with and without the learning disability, with a mission of providing aid to those without access to private tutoring. For Dyslexia recently published the first installment of their “I Can” suite, which not only teaches reading, but helps boost a child’s self-esteem as well. If you could benefit from expert feedback and guidance to build a startup in Spain, apply now to the Barcelona Founder Institute, which is currently accepting applications for the Summer Semester.
