Female Founder Fellowship

The Female Founder Fellowship is awarded to the most extraordinary female applicant for each semester, giving them the opportunity to participate in the Founder Institute for free. The recipient will be recognized as a female with the utmost potential to become a successful technology entrepreneur.

The Founder Institute is committed to narrowing the gender gap in high tech startups. When we announced the Female Founder Fellowship program in 2011, only 16% of Founder Institute companies were founded by females. Since then, the results of this program have been astounding, as our overall number of female-founded companies has more than doubled, to a total of approximately 33%. This is more than twice as high as most other startup programs. Learn more about the Female Founder Fellowship program here

Eligibility: In order to be eligible for the Female Founder Fellowship for the upcoming semester, you must complete your application, be accepted to the program, and submit your payment by the Early Deadline listed on the top of this page. Any female who follows these guidelines will be automatically eligible - no further steps are required.

Grant: The Female Founder Fellowship is awarded to the most extraordinary female applicant for each semester. The recipient will be awarded and notified within 5 days after the Early Admissions Deadline, and they will receive a full refund on their Course Fee within 1 week of the program start date. All applicants will be notified via email when the Fellowships are awarded.

Ash Fontana and Russ Reeder Scheduled to Speak on the Early Stage Startup Track at the 13th Founder Showcase

Posted by Jonathan Greechan on 2013-03-25

The 13th Founder Showcase, featuring Chris Dixon (Andreessen Horowitz) and Keith Rabois (Khosla Ventures)  is right around the corner, and soon we will get a glimpse into the Future of Funding while we help launch several early-stage startups to greatness.

Before we pick the brains of two of the most prominent VCs in Silicon Valley, we will start the show with a special “Early-Stage Startup Track” panel. During this time, Ash Fontana (AngelList) and Russ Reeder (Media Temple) will address some of the most pertinent topics for early-stage startup founders.

 Ash Fontana, Head of Fundraising at AngelList

With AngelList's new Invest Platform, individuals can invest as little as $1,000 in startups, pre- JOBS Act, through a partnership with SecondMarket. In fact, Distil just recently announced that it sourced the final $200,000 of it's round through the platform. Ash will share the best practices for startups using AngelList, and provide tips that founders can use to increase their chances of getting fund.

 Russ Reeder, COO of Media Temple

Russ has not only started companies, but is now a sought after operational executive who has joined several teams in CxO-level roles, leading several turnarounds at organizations that have sold for billions of dollars. Russ will discuss the always hot topic of Founder vs. Operational Executive and what both should do to be successful - giving several practical tips for early-stage founders in the crowd who want to excel in operations and help their companies mature.

In addition to our awesome speakers we have also secured a judging panel which includes;

Guests will also see an entertaining Pitch Competition featuring 8 promising seed-stage companies, and enjoy appetizers and drinks in a networking hall full of other hot startups demoing their wares in the Demo Table Competition.

This event will sell out – get your tickets or table today.
