This profile on HugeFan, a graduate of the Washington DC Founder Institute, was written by Emma Tzeng. Founded in 2012 by Chris MacDonald and Lawrence Norton, HugeFan helps users connect with their idols in unique ways.

 

 

Like it or not, we’re all fans of something or someone. Whether you’re a die-hard foodie that keeps a running roster of your favorite chefs around the world, a film junkie that can recall by memory the directors and screenwriters of all your favorite films throughout history, or a music lover that follows your top artists’ tour dates scouring for the next show to attend, everyone has his or her own associations.

Washington DC-based startup HugeFan gets this, and they want to help fans get connected to their favorite idols in exciting, unique ways.

With HugeFan, users can choose their own “experiences,” which range from an hour-long conversation with a musician to a VIP ticket to an on-site filming of a new movie. Each experience is priced differently and can be booked instantly on the HugeFan website.

However, it doesn’t stop there: fans who already have a tailored experience in mind can request an experience on the site. Recently requested experiences include an opportunity to work with Kanye West, a casual interview with Jack Dorsey of Square, and a kite flying session with Jack White. With HugeFan, the possibilities are truly endless.

Celebrities and vendors can also submit experiences to raise money for their businesses or a charitable cause. HugeFan takes a 20 percent processing fee after experiences are sold.

Founded by Chris MacDonald, who developed and grew the largest music podcast network with over 130 million listens, and Lawrence Norton, who has over 12 years of experience with emerging growth and early-stage technical management and development of online and mobile web applications, HugeFan creatively combines technology and personalization to bring dreams to life. And that’s certainly a mission anyone should be a fan of.
