Why Chris Dixon Dropped Everything to Join Silicon Valley Powerhouse, Andreessen Horowitz
Last week we announced the first Keynote Speaker for the 13th Founder Showcase, taking place on Wednesday, March 27th at the Microsoft Campus in Mountain View: Chris Dixon, Investor at Andreessen Horowitz, one of Silicon Valley’s most prominent Venture Capital firms.
As the seventh partner to join the exclusive Andreessen Horowitz powerhouse, Chris Dixon caused quite a stir when he left eBay and moved from New York to Silicon Valley to pursue his career in venture capital. In January, he sat down with Kara Swisher of All Things D to talk about his big move, exciting career change, and what he admires most about his new Sand Hill abode.
In the interview Chris says “I’ve always enjoyed getting involved with startups” and believes “venture capital has a positive societal value” as investors fuel the growth for which change can take place. In regards to Andreessen Horowitz, “I think this firm is different; everyone here is an entrepreneur...Everyone is focused on helping the investments succeed...it’s not thesis based”.
Be sure to check out the interivew below as well as the article "Go West, Young Geek: Chris Dixon on Why He Became a Silicon Valley VC at Andreessen Horowitz, and More!" by Kara Swisher.
We look forward to hearing Chris's story at the Founder Showcase on March 27th.
